AI-Assisted Songwriting for Stroke Rehabilitation

Music therapy can support recovery after stroke. This project co-designs AI-assisted songwriting technologies with multiple stakeholders in stroke care, so that the tools fit real rehabilitation practice.

Approach

As a postdoctoral fellow at the National University of Singapore, I worked on AI and music in music therapy. This line of work begins with qualitative research: interviewing stakeholders about how music therapy is used in stroke recovery, what barriers they face, and where technology could help. These findings then inform the design of AI-assisted songwriting tools for rehabilitation.

A qualitative study of stakeholder views is under review, and a paper on AI-enabled music therapy for stroke rehabilitation is in preparation.
